trying something new

I just randomly felt like doing something in color, just putting it down and seeing what came of it. This is the result. I like somethings about it but I really feel like it could be improved in a lot of ways... color and composition wise. Perhaps a little too saturated? I don't know, color is a skill I'm trying to improve. Helpful hints would be great! Cheers

I think more cool colors in your shadows would really help. Get more color in there and it'll help set things in place better. It's a good starter for a really good painting. Maybe some more value range, a darker dark.

I think it's great! I like the color palette you chose. It's like a background you'd see from the Samurai Jack Universe. Just keep pushing your limits. The best way is always to "just crank it out". You'll be sure to develop more fantastic backgrounds. Cheers!
